As of January 1, 2023, BaldwinMedia will no longer offer DVDs and Blu-ray Discs. This is due to the lack of support from software and hardware manufacturers. Software companies are no longer fixing bugs in software that authors DVD and Blu-ray Discs, and it is becoming increasingly difficult to find quality supplies to create physical discs.
Here is some important information to help you transition to Digital Downloads or USB drives. If you have any questions that are not included in this article, please send us an email.
USB Drive Details
We recognize that Digital Downloads are not ideal for many of our customers, so we will be offering physical USB drives. Many TVs, Media players, DVD Players and Blu-ray players support USB drives. Essentially, you can use your USB drive just like you were using DVD and Blu-ray Discs.
The USB drives will be formatted to maximize compatibility with as many devices as possible. Because of this, 4K files will not fit on USB drives (4K files are about 6GB, and FAT32 drives are limited to 4GB files). If you want to get the highest quality 4K files, be sure to choose 4K Download when ordering your video.
Recommended Devices
If you currently do not own a device that accepts USB drives, here are a few suggestions:
- Sony BDP-BX370 Blu-ray Disc Player
- Roku Ultra 2022
- Most new TVs with a USB drive (consider purchasing a USB extension cable for convenience)
Additional Benefits
- Since the authoring and duplication process is much simpler with USB drives, videos will be delivered quicker.
- For those creating a digital library, you no longer have to convert physical discs into digital files.
